John Jung – Co - Founder
Brick+Work
Speaker

John served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a scout paratrooper. After
tours in Egypt and Kosovo, John learned that one of the most important
factors in resolving conflict were having empathy for everybody involved and
staying the course when all communication has broken down. It’s this core
the value that led him to want to get into the mortgage industry in 2009 shortly
after the real estate financial crisis had decimated property values and
funding had dried up for most lenders and banks. He would eventually
launch  Trupath Lending, a fintech real estate loan company to try and solve
the many problems of an antiquated industry by leveraging the latest in
technology to deliver a more efficient and pleasant experience for
borrowers.

The next challenge was trying to find solutions for the growing housing
crisis in Los Angeles and identifying how challenging it is to navigate
through the complex zoning code to help in the initial identification and due
diligence process. This led him to team up with Alex to start Brick+Work a
platform that is providing this information at lower cost points and working
to build more tools and provide relevant data that can help stakeholders
innovate to develop smarter cities.
